CAALN offers multiple opportunities to travel in Africa with us. Its leadership has more than two decades of planning and leading trips, including arts and TAPTA trips, fundraising trips, and excursions to climb Mt. Kilimanjaro, as well as university faculty and study trips.

Since 2008, the leadership teams of CAALN, in collaboration with participants from around the world and East Africa, have facilitated creative arts therapies and counseling training programs in Kenya and Tanzania. We are currently looking for creative arts therapists , including students, and related professionals to join us in Tanzania for workshops, skill shares, reflections, community-building, and more.
Kenya Literary Retreat

Come with us to write in beautiful Kenya! Your Kenya literary retreat includes workshops with writers from Africa and the United States, one-of-a-kind cultural experiences including the Macondo Literary Festival in Nairobi and an open mic with local youth, as well as time to explore Nairobi’s energy and creativity. Participants will have ample time for writing and inspiration. We will spend several days in Kitengela lodgings near Nairobi National Park, and in Watamu on the Indian Ocean.
Please note: The trip fee does not include transportation to and from Kenya.

CAALN’s leadership has experience in leading arts-focused trips and business school trips for faculty and students, as well as faculty trips for business, social work, and library science faculty.

CAALN offers guided hikes up Mt. Kilimanjaro that include safaris in one or more of East Africa’s conservation areas and excursions to the coastal areas or the Zanzibar Archepelagos.
